The purpose of this case study, developed in collaboration with our patient representative, Dr David Jones, is to demonstrate the value and importance of patient representation at a network level and to encourage clinical networks to support this valuable role within their organisations. Evidence clearly demonstrates that examination of imaging service change through the patient lens enhances ultimate system outcomes and provides confidence to the network. Patient and public volunteers are a free but extremely valuable resource to which the NHS has access. Utilising volunteers in this way enables the local population to influence key healthcare decisions.
