Kate has a NHS background serving more than 40 years. Her clinical background has been served in Emergency Care where she was a Paramedic and Tutor, with experience in working within emergency care settings in other countries including North America.

Kate was at the inception of Clinical Networks in 2004 introducing, and developing, one of the first of its kind, Cardiac Networks for Shropshire and Staffordshire. Kate went on to develop the Stroke Network in the region until 2013, where Clinical Networks were devolved into wider West Midlands Networks where Kate widened her portfolio to include the Cancer, Maternity, Children’s, and Newborn Networks.

In 2016 Kate went back to her original roots undertaking the role of General Manager, EMRS and ScotSTAR’ within The Scottish Ambulance Service. Kate’s responsibilities comprised of all Pre-hospital, immediate Critical Care Teams, advanced practitioners and Consultants alongside Neonatal and Pediatric transport retrieval teams for Scotland including; the fixed winged aircraft, road and rotary air asset Helicopters responses within the Air Ambulance directorate of the service.

Kate’s more recent accomplishments include; developing and delivering on a number of National Strategic Networks for Scotland including, Trauma, Neonatal, Maternity, Fertility, Police Care, Prison Care and the Care of Veterans. These Networks were built on the acclaimed ‘exemplar’ network model that, through her experience, Kate has created, which has led to the successful delivery of major large-scale change.

Kate has been a member of national reference groups; including the Department of Health ‘National Emergency Cardiac Board’ and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) National Stroke Advisory Board contributing to the document “Supporting Life after Stroke”
