Steve is a Digital Transformation specialist, with a career history spanning the private and public sectors over three decades.  Before joining the West Midlands Image Network, Steve was the interim Deputy Director of Digital Transformation for the Midlands Region of NHS England. In this role, Steve was accountable for the digital response to Covid in the region and oversaw the NHSE funded digital transformation in Primary Care & Secondary Care, with a particular interest in the interface with Social Care. Steve was also closely involved in progressing the region’s business cases for Electronic Patient Records, within the Frontline Digitisation programme.

Having previously been the CIO for Solihull Council and later for Birmingham City Council, as well as Transformation Director and strategic consultant in numerous Local Authorities, Universities and other public sector organisations, Steve takes a big picture view of citizen and patient benefits and ensures they are delivered from digital investments.

Steve comes from a background of Project and Programme Management, working in these roles in KPMG, Serco and ITNet. He was also elected as President of the Society of Information Technology and Modernisation (SOCITM), while in the role of CIO for Solihull Council and was Chair of the corporate board of directors in this capacity. He has also served as a Trustee on the board of a local carers Charity, looking out for the interests of unpaid carers, and retains an involvement in non-executive roles in private and public sector organisations.

He also set up and chaired the West Midlands Public Sector Network (WMPSN), a collaboration of public sector organisations creating a joint procurement and governance for wide area network infrastructure – a project that shares some similarities with the WMIN, and delivered material collaborative benefits.
